Heer & Veer (Part 12)

PART 12

Veer came back to the place where Heer stood. Heer was still in her own world thinking about the day’s happenings.

“Hey, dream girl. Come, I want you to meet someone.”

“Hey…” Veer didn’t wait to hear what Heer had to say. He held her hand and took her to his mother.

“Maa, this is Heer. Heer, this is my Maa.” Heer greeted Diya which was returned by a hearty smile. She hugged Heer and rubbed her hair with care.

“Heer, you’re such a lovely girl. How come you are with my son?” Diya joked to which Heer chuckled as well.

“Maa…” – “Okay, Okay. I’m not disturbing you guys anymore. Heer, it was nice meeting you.” Heer smiled as a sign of gratitude. Diya left after leaving a grumpy Veer and smiling Heer alone.

“Oh… so you’re enjoying at my expense, right?” Veer asked Heer with a pointed look.

“No. Uh… I didn’t.” Heer replied nervously.

“Oh, miss innocent. Now let me show you what entertainment at anyone’s expense is.” Veer started walking away.

“Veer… Veer, stop. Veer…” Heer started to panic. Veer went straight to the stage taking the mic from the DJ in style.

“Hello, ladies and gentlemen. May I have your attention here.” Everyone turned their attention toward the stage.

“First of all, thanks to everyone who has accepted my most beautiful mom’s invitation and has found time to grace this ceremony. I know it’s been a while since my mom is running after me trying to convince me to attend a party. I was personally not in a mood because I was finding it hard to find a female singer for my band. Secondly, I needed a girl who my mom would approve of to accompany me to this party as my date. Well, I’ve found both in one person. So, everyone, I take your sincere attention to the star of the day, Miss Heer Bhalla.” Heer stood there numb looking around her and back at Veer. She was astonished to hear that Veer has selected her as the female lead of ROCKERS.

“Now, I invite Heer to bless this occasion with her beautiful voice.” Heer was not able to keep a step from where she stood. She was going to have a panic attack seeing the immense attention that the crowd was giving her.

“Heer… Heer…” – “Huh…” Heer was brought back from her trance by Veer’s voice.

“Let’s go.” Heer just looked at Veer’s face which was filled with a motivating smile. Heer nodded assertively and both of them walked to the stage.

“Heer, the stage’s yours,” Veer said after handing over the mic to Heer and tried to walk away but Heer stopped him by holding his wrist.

“I don’t think I could do this,” Heer told Veer.

“Do you trust yourself?” Veer asked.

“I don’t know.”

“Do you trust me?” Heer looked at Veer and thought to herself for a while as she continued looking at his face.

“Yes…” Heer couldn’t believe her voice but she knew that she was void of options at that time.

“Then just take a deep breath and sing with your heart. You can do it.” Veer exited after giving Heer words of confidence. Heer took a deep breath, held the mic, and started to sing her favourite song.

Aapki nazaron ne samjha, pyaar ke kabil mujhe

Dil ki ai dhadkan thaher ja, mil gayee manzil mujhe

Aapki nazron ne samjha

Heer looked at Veer while singing and Veer gave her a welcoming smile along with a thumbs up in return.

Ji hamen manzoor hai, aapka ye faisla

Kah rahi hai har nazar, banda paravar shukriya

Hus Ke Apne Zindagi Mein, Kar Liya Shaamil Mujhe

Aapki nazron ne samjha

Diya was also enjoying Heer’s song delightfully. However, Mirha and her mother were getting angry seeing Heer’s acceptance within the Kapoors.

Aapki manzil hoon main meri manzil aap hain

Kyon main toofaan se darun mere saahil aap hain

Koi tufanon se kah de, mil gaya sahil mujhe

Aapki nazron ne samjha

Heer finished her rendition. The whole crowd applauded her except Mirha and her mother. Kiya was much pissed seeing Veer supporting Heer. She was also shocked to see Diya accepting Heer so easily. She thought of scaring Heer away from Veer.

“Wow, congratulations, Heer. Good singing,” Kiya faked an appreciation to which Heer thanked politely.

“And you, Mirha told me that you were hiding from me. Is it true that you don’t want to talk to your Ki Aunty anymore?” Kiya asked Veer with a flattering tone and fake sad face.

“There’s nothing like that, Aunty. How can I forget my gorgeous lady?” Veer said with a flirty tone while Kiya moved her hair strands. Heer chuckled silently as she understood that Veer was faking everything.

“Look, Diya. I told you, na. My Veer can never avoid me.” Just then, Rageeth came and called Diya and Veer for a snap.

“I’ll be right back.” Veer left Heer after giving her a short side hug. Heer stood there astonishingly.

“Hey, girl. Hey…” Heer was brought back to reality by Kiya’s finger snap.

“W… What?”

“You better stay away from Veer. By the way, look at you. Cheap locals like you don’t deserve to even stand here let alone be the date of someone like Veer. I know why you’re doing this. Bitches like you would do anything to make an innocent soul fall for you just for their money. You’re merely a gold-digging slut and nothing else. I don’t want to waste my time talking to you. Mirha, let’s go.” Kiya and Mirha left after harassing Heer. She couldn’t control her emotional outburst and ran away from the party. Meanwhile, Veer who was taking a family photo saw Heer running outside. He knew something wasn’t right.

“Ma and Pa, I’ll come now.” Veer excused himself and went towards Heer. He spotted her walking hastily towards the exit.

“Heer, Heer wait. Where are you going? Heer stay” – “Why should I?” Heer asked after knocking off Veer’s hand from her wrist.

“I don’t know why you’re doing this. I don’t belong in places like these. I don’t even know to talk to people. Then why should you make me your date? After everything that Mirha’s Mom told me, I don’t think a boring person like me should stay. Even you don’t like me, your friends don’t like me, then why do you want me here? Tell me, Veer. Tell me why should I still stay with you here?”

“Because I have fallen in love with you.” Veer gave Heer the biggest shock in her life. She didn’t know how to react to it and hence did what she felt was right at that moment.

“I’m sorry, Veer. I need to leave.” Veer just stood there seeing Heer walk away.
